This is a large piece, created as part of my graduation series. Very bright and bold, it explores the tensions that emerge from the restraints of false ideologies in spiritual identity. A powerful piece, combining fine art realism with large contemporary flat colour voids, creating an unusual juxtaposition.

During this series, I set myself the task of experimenting with new ways of applying paint, and exploring the inclusion of landscapes into my practice. This painting is a visual comment and instruction adapted from a spiritual vision I received, translated into conceptual imagery. This enabled a picture seen with spiritual sight to be converted into one that can be observed in the natural. Visions of spoons always represent teaching to me, while ladles indicate the ushering in of the Holy Spirit to heal.
